SWAS Athletics Athletes take Gold at the 2017 Victorian All Schools Track and Field Championships.

SWAS athletics athletes Jacob Mibus and Caytlyn Sharp had outstanding results at the 2017 Victorian All Schools Track and Field Championships Friday 5th-7th November taking home 7 golds and 1 silver.

Results:

Jacob Mibus:

-Gold in the 100m

-Gold in the 200m

-Silver in long jump.

Jacob achieved PBs in all of these events as an U18 para athlete running for the Hamilton & Alexandra College.

Next up for Jacob is Nationals in Sydney, March 2018.

 

Caytlyn sharp:

-Gold in the 100m para with a time of 14:26sec

-Gold in the 200m para with a time of 30:01sec

-Gold in Shot put with a distance of 8.70m

-Gold in Discuss with a distance of 20.48m

-Gold in Long jump with a jump of 4.24m

Next up for Caytlyn is the All Schools National Championships In Adelaide and the Athletics Australia Junior Championships in Sydney, March 2018.

 

South West Academy of Sport Awards 2017

The 2017 South West Academy of Sport Awards will take place on Sunday 26 November. The Awards are to recognise the outstanding achievements and effort of the South West Academy of Sport Athletes. South West Academy of Sport recognised the outstanding achievements by their athletes at their annual awards night. The athletes will be treated to a very inspiring talk by Vixens netballer Tegan Philip about the sacrifices and choices you have do as a high performing athlete to reach your goals. Tegan will also presented some of the awards together with local VIP’s.  The awards winners for the year are nominated by their coaches and trainers and the winners decided by a selection panel. The winners represented all the different shires in the Academy.

  • 2017 Southern Grampians Strength & Conditioning Award
  • 2017 Corangamite Strength & Conditioning Award
  • 2017 Glenelg Strength & Conditioning Award

Warrnambool – Grade 3 Sporting Award

Applications are invited from suitably experienced persons for the part-time, 28 hours per fortnight administrative role with the South West Academy of Sport.

The Administration and Athlete Liaison Officer will undertake a wide variety of duties related to the effective running of the South West Academy of Sport.

The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate that they:

  • Possess well-developed Microsoft Office suite knowledge
  • Have the ability to work independently
  • Possess well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Have strong administration skills
  • Have a general working knowledge of website and application management
  • Possess well-developed organisational and time management skills
  • Hold a valid driver’s licence for the state of Victoria

Athlete Pathway Travel Grants

Applications for the first round of 2017 of the Athlete Pathway Travel Grants Program are now open and close on Thursday 22 September 2016. Applications are to be made online at www.sport.vic.gov.au/grants-and-programs/athlete-pathway-travel-grants-program

Applications are also open for the Local Sporting Champions Program and close on the 31 October 2016. www.ausport.gov.au/participating/local_sporting_champions
