PARASPORT PROGRAM

South West Academy of Sport exists to support athletes on their sporting pathway.  For para-athletes, these pathways are often less clear.  For emerging para-athletes, particularly in regional areas, this is compounded by additional challenges often not experienced by those living in metro  areas.

SWAS is supported by the Victorian Government, the Victorian Institute of Sport, Local Governments and commercial sponsors.  With thanks to Paralympics Australia, SWAS provides tangible support to aid regional emerging parasport athletes through the combined implementation of a purpose-built Talent ID & Development Framework for para-athletes and the delivery of SWAS core services.

ParaSport Project : About

The SWAS Talent ID and Development Framework for para-athletes has been designed to identify that the array of para-athletes, their classified impairments and the demands of parasport will alter the rate at which para-athletes progress along their identified pathways.

SWAS combines the SWAS Talent ID and Development Framework for Para-Athletes and its core services to support emerging Para-Athletes in the South West of Victoria.
